Our Projects: BiliNEST

BiliNEST is a pan-London multicentre observational study to investigate the detection and assessment of jaundice in neonates of different skin tones.

We aim to assess whether current diagnostic techniques contribute to race-related health inequality by looking into the severity of jaundice on first detection, the correlation of transcutaneous bilirubinometer (TcB) results with serum bilirubin measurement, and short term outcomes of neonates of different skin tones undergoing jaundice assessment.

Leads: Mailis Michaud, Kamla Pillay & Joanna Mena
